One way I approach art is by imagining how a singer makes music. Sometimes I am more compelled to make 'singles', but there are times when I'd want to work on a full body of work.
And the reasons for that sometime vary, because there are times when I feel like expressing a story as one individual painting or breaking it down into a series-- in order to best get my point across.
To me, any one painting could be broken down into a series. And at the same time, a series of paintings can also be summed up into one.
So, it really does vary based on what approach I want to take on any project I work on.
But, I don't always relate music to painting in every situation. For example, I find tempo quite hard to translate into a painting. For me. Maybe, during the experience of an exhibition tempo could be used as a tool.
There are many other ways to relate both painting and music. But comparing the process singles and albums are made with paintings, is one way I relate the two.
Thanks for reading.
